Governor Perdue Visits Boys & Girls Clubs of Lumberton/Robeson County
On December 17, Governor Perdue stopped at Boys & Girls Clubs of Lumberton/Robeson County during her visit to the town. She met with Club members, heard some of their stories, played games, and talked to staff about their work and successes with youth.
Governor Bev Perdue said that programs and activities off
ered by organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs
play a significant role in the education and development of the state’s young people.
The Governor addressed the crowd, speaking positively about Boys & Girls Clubs programs. She was impressed with the fact that none of the Club members had dropped out of school, and stated, “If this program did not exist, then these boys and girls wouldn’t have a safe place to play,” Perdue said. “This teaches them the correct values and how they should live their lives.”
