The North Carolina Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs was named the inaugural State Alliance of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) at the annual Board Member Luncheon on May 2, 2012 during BGCA’s National Conference in San Diego. The award was presented by Ron J. Gidwitz, Co-Chair of BGCA’s Board of Governors’ Government Relations Committee, for excellence in stewardship and oversight of state funding, promoting and strengthening local Club partnerships, and developing and expanding quality youth development. This was the first year BGCA gave Alliance awards other than marketing awards.

Accepting on behalf of the NC Alliance were Jeff Green, Brigade Boys & Girls Clubs; Heather Brosz White, NC Alliance Director; Ron Green, Boys & Girls Clubs of Nash/Edgecombe Counties; Thomas Falgout, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater High Point; and Matt Holifield, Cherokee Boys & Girls Clubs Youth Programs. The award was also presented to Warren Preston, President of the NC Alliance Board of Directors, on behalf of the entire Alliance membership and board, during the Annual Membership Meeting on October 6, 2012 in Raleigh.

Heather Brosz White, NC Alliance Director, co-presented at the State Alliance Summit held on May 1 also in San Diego, on “Simple, Cost-Effective Grant Monitoring Approaches.”
