Jason Walker: 2005 North Carolina Youth of the Year

JasonJason Walker of High Point, NC, was a member of the Springfield Boys & Girls Club for three years and a member of the Carson Stout Club for one year. Jason graduated from Andrews High School, where out of 239 seniors in his class, he ranked at the top 26% of his class with a 3.5 GPA. Jason was involved in various extracurricular school activities such as the S.A.V.E. Club (Students Against Violence Everywhere); Young Men of Distinction (High School Fraternity); Andrews High School representative on the Student Human Relations Committee; and Drum Captain for the marching band. Jason has also been involved in his community by volunteering with Wesley Long Nursing Home, Guilford County Student Human Relations Committee, and High Point Kiwanis Pancake Day

At the Boys & Girls Club, Jason was an active member of the Keystone Club (teen character & leadership program) participating in fundraising and social recreation activities; Junior Staff; Club Clean Team; community cleanup projects; as well as basketball and soccer programs. Jason has also spoken at many engagements for Boys & Girls Clubs and provided tutoring services during the Power Hour homework time. In addition Jason enjoyed assisting Club staff by facilitating weekly spelling and math bees at the Club. Jason is a positive mentor who provides hope, guidance, support and encouragement to all youth in the High Point Community. Jason attended North Carolina A & T State University upon his graduation.
